A network of treatment

A recognised pole of excellence, the Jérôme Lejeune Institut has been awarded a mandate for providing to all in the medical profession and public authorities, a true guide to good clinical practices and for conducting or undertaking research on subjects which remain controversial, in an independent and non-lucrative manner. No equivalent structure exists at present either in France or anywhere else in the world. "Medical progress is only of value if it is freely shared with everyone".

By combining a clinic and research, the Jérôme Lejeune Institut has grasped the exceptionally beneficial opportunity initiated by the Jérôme Lejeune Fondation and stimulated by the historic announcement of the sequencing of chromosome 21. This discovery has had immense consequences for the understanding of the mechanisms of other chromosomic diseases, particularly in the neuro-scientific field. Several notorious research scientists are to work together combining their abilities in a common project conducted by the Jérôme Lejeune Institut.

As a dynamic pole of clinical research, the Jérôme Lejeune Institut has taken up the challenge laid down by Prof. Lejeune : "If the same amount of energy had been committed to curing trisomy 21 as was expended in going to the moon, a cure would have been found a long time ago".
